It is said that this area of North West Sutherland is one of the most beautiful in Scotland. Around every corner, yet another view to behold. Majestic mountains with spectacular shapes such as Suilven, Quinag, (habitat of the Golden Eagle), Benmore Assynt (3273 ft) give rise to rivers where the Osprey feed and the salmon return each year to spawn.
The coastline is rugged and studded with sheltered bays some with sand so white that the contrast with the clear sea is astounding. The air too is fresh and clean. Whatever the weather, influenced by the Gulf Stream, you'll feel invigorated, so come prepared.
History was made here. There are caves from the neolithic period, Broch ruins and Ardvreck Castle where Montrose was betrayed. Enjoy sea and loch fishing, hill walking, mountains and white beaches.
